5 Careers You Should Probably Avoid

Everyone’s looking for advice on how to land at their dream company.  This post isn’t that.  Here’s a bit of (mostly) obvious advice on the kind of job and work place you might want to avoid.

Asbestos Remover (or anything that exposes you to the material)

People who remove asbestos from buildings for a living are exposed to a high level of the substance throughout their career. While protective clothing and equipment can help you to avoid the worst effects; you are certain to get a large dose over the years. A mesothelioma attorney might be in the position to get you some compensation in later life, but that isn’t going to come as any comfort when you are ill.

Septic Tank Cleaner

Thankfully, the amount of people who still have septic tanks in the US has been decreasing for some time. However, there are still thousands of them out there, and they all need a good clean from time to time. Leave that job to someone else because the last thing you want is to mess around with human waste at 9am.

Chimney Sweep

You would be forgiven for thinking chimney sweeps are no longer required. However, there are hundreds of them in the US alone. Unless you want to spend your time breathing dangerous particles into your lungs, you should look for something a little less dangerous.

Factory Operative

Finding your career path can be tough, but the last thing you want to do is select a job as a factory operative. While it might sound like a decent job title, what it means is that you will stare at machines all day long. Set your ambitions a little bit higher if you don’t want to be bored out of your brains within only a few weeks.

Stun Gun Tester

Believe it or not, all those stun guns have to be tested on human subjects many times before they go on sale. That means there is a fleet of people out there who let weapons companies run electricity through their bodies on a weekly basis. Don’t be a fool. That job is not for you.

We hope that you will now manage to avoid the worst jobs in the world and find something a little more suitable. At the end of the day, you just need to opt for something you enjoy. Money isn’t everything, but it does take the sting out of being poor. So, you must find the right balance between job satisfaction and earnings. We are certain you’ll land the ideal role if you keep checking job sites and speak to business owners in your local town. Do yourself a favor though. Avoid the jobs we’ve just mentioned and look for something more appropriate.
