Become an expert

It’s pretty hard to turn someone down for a post they are applying for if they have already established themselves as an expert in that field. That is why getting experience and as much knowledge and understanding is vital. You may choose to do this by undertaking practical or academic training, or specific courses that demonstrate your prowess in a particular field.

It can also help immensely to manage your image as an expert via the internet. Ways of doing this include using services like LinkedIn and having your own websites and blog, as these can serve as a way to network and demonstrate the depth and breadth of your knowledge and passion for the subject.

Let the job experts help

Next, it can never hurt to let the experts help you in job search either. However, instead of going to your local high street agency that places any old Tom, Dick or Harry do your research and find ones that are specific to either the industry that you want to be in, or to the level of position you are looking for.

You will find in fact, that there are many bespoke agencies like Alexander Daniels that are set up for financial and corporate sectors. Something that makes them the perfect choice if you are looking for a role that falls under that remit. You will also find specialist agencies for the health and educations sectors too. Ones that can make your search much more effective and the result ultimately fruitful.

Let the experts do the hard work and find you a perfect post.

Intern or volunteer

Being an internet or a volunteer may not be your dream job, but it may just be the route to getting it in the long run. This is because by dedicating your time without much in the way of financial compensation you show how motivated you are to work in the particular sector. You also demonstrate that you truly understand what the role will be like in real life not just on paper, and you can pick up valuable experience that can set you ahead of the other candidates when you apply.

Carve out your own niche

Lastly, if you have tried all of the above strategies but are still drawing a blank where landing a job is concerned, you may wish to consider carving out your own niche. This means instead of looking for a role that suits you, you create one of your own.

This may entail starting up your own business from scratch although you can choose consultancy work too. This is where you sequestered into someone else’s business as a troubleshooter for a certain amount of time and is a great way of landing a well-paying job that is different one day to the next.
